Winifred W. McCabe

1922-2018

 

 

 

“Winnie” McCabe of Havertown, PA died peacefully at home on Christmas Eve at the age of 96. Visitation will be held at Victor J. Ruffenach’s Funeral Home, 4900 Township Line Road, Drexel Hill, PA 19026 on Friday, December 28th from 7–9 PM.  Relatives and friends are also invited to join the family at this funeral home for a gathering of friends at 10 - 10:30 AM on Saturday, December 29th.  Followed by a graveside Service at Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery.

 

Winnie was born to the late Lillian and Edward McCann Walls on September 4, 1922. She will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a caring, supportive great-grandmother, grandmother and mother. She was active in Girl Scouts when her daughter was younger and loved encouraging her son in Boy Scouts. Winnie was a whiz at sewing, enjoyed crafting, needlepoint and lovingly made crocheted blankets for her grandchildren.

 

She was predeceased by her husband, John L. McCabe, Sr. She is survived by her daughter, Joan McCabe Brinkerhoff and husband Jay of Summit, NJ, son, John L. McCabe, Jr. and wife, Cathy of Chadds Ford and Carolina Shores, NC, seven grandchildren (Chris and Sarah Brinkerhoff, Kate Brinkerhoff Angus and Andrew Angus, K.C. McCabe Lancenese, John L. McCabe III and Missy McCabe, Toby McCabe and Jo Huxster, Amanda Brinkerhoff and Tori McCabe) and five great-grandchildren.

 

She will also be dearly missed by her caretaker and friend of over four years, Mabeline Dennis.
