Kerry J. Flanagan

Kerry Flanagan (Flanny), age 62, peacefully passed away surrounded by family on Saturday, December 29, 2018 in Oxford, PA.

Born in Jersey City, NJ, December 26, 1956 to Elizabeth and John Flanagan, Kerry grew up in Dover, DE. Kerry moved to Oxford, PA in 2003 where he established many friendships. He was employed as a Maintenance Specialist at Ware Presbyterian Village and enjoyed brightening the days of many of the senior living residents with his sense of humor. He genuinely loved interacting with the residents while working.

Kerry served his country in the US Navy from 1977 to 1981 and was stationed on the USS Iwo Jima (LPH-2) out of Norfolk, VA. Like his father, grandfather and uncles, he was proud of his naval service to his country and was always a sailor at heart. He was also very proud of his Irish heritage.

Kerry will be remembered by many for his sense of humor and positive attitude. Kerry loved sailing, playing golf with his grandsons, playing guitar and harmonica and live music. He was an avid concert goer.

Kerry will be lovingly remembered by his children, Sean Flanagan and his wife Samantha, Erin Gingerich and her husband Brad; sister Ellen Flanagan Rollins and her husband Bill, and sister Patti Cripps and her husband Randy.  Kerry also will be greatly missed by his four young grandchildren, three nieces (Julianne, Hannah and Meredith Cripps) as well as his best friend of 55 years, Charles Mancino, who was like a brother to Kerry.

Kerry's family wishes to thank all of the staff at Ware Presbyterian Village for their love and support.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at The Pavilion at Vista Ridge section of Ware Presbyterian Village 1161 Kensington Lane, Oxford, PA.    It was Kerry’s wish to have his ashes scattered at sea in a military ceremony conducted from a U.S. Navy vessel.

Kerry lived and laughed and loved and left.
And the world never be the same.

Kerry lived his life with a smile and a good word for everyone he met. In the game of life, I'd call that a winner! You'll be missed!
