Donald Murta

1933 – 2019

Donald Murta, 86 died Friday December 6, 2019 at Pocopson Home in Chester County, Pennsylvania where he lived for the last year and a half. He was a 14 year resident of Honey Brook, Pennsylvania, prior to that he was a 10 year resident of Ocean City, New Jersey and before that a 37 year resident of Aldan Pennsylvania.

Mr. Murta was born in Philadelphia and spent his childhood in Collingdale then Wynnewood. He attended the Valley Forge Military Academy and then Episcopal Academy where he graduated in 1952. He also attended what is now Pierce College.

His father was the owner of Murta’s Furniture at 54th and Chester in Philadelphia and after his father died, Mr. Murta and his brother Walter Murta became co-owners. They expanded to a second location on West Chester Pk. near City Ave. It was a well-known family business within the community and many people have fond memories of Murta’s Furniture.
