Susan Marie O’Hara Fitzmire
1955 - 2021
Susan Marie O’Hara Fitzmire, 65, passed away at home surround by her loving family on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 in Springfield, PA. She was born to Helen and Harry O’Hara on September 21st, 1955 in Philadelphia, PA. On February 11, 1978 she married the love of her life, Robert Fitzmire, at St. Gabriel’s Church in Norwood, PA.
Susan is survived by her husband Robert; their children Christina Heyduk (Adam), Robert Fitzmire Jr. (Alicia), and Lauren Brown (William); and her 7 grandchildren: Colin, Kylie, Jenna, Mabel, Isla Rose, Robert III, and Greta. Susan is also survived by her 10 siblings: Michael O’Hara(Helen), Francis O’Hara (Patricia), Daniel O’Hara, Kathy Randell, Tricia Winters, Joan Marie Shields, Denise Lynch, Kevin O’Hara, Joseph O’Hara (Diane), and Ann Marie Bistline (Eric), as well as her 25 nieces and nephews.
Susan began her career with US Steel before leaving in 1982 to focus on raising her children. She went back to school and graduated with honors from Rosemont College in 1992 and then spent of majority of her career as a widely loved teacher at Saint Andrews Catholic School. She retired in 2005 to stay home and care for her grandchildren.
Susan enjoyed traveling the world with her husband and spending endless summers in North Wildwood with family and friends. She loved getting lost in a great book on a sunny day at the beach or dancing the night away to her favorite oldies anywhere she could find a dance floor – she will always be our dancing queen.
Relatives and friends are invited to Susan's viewing Thursady evening, March 11, 2021 from 6-8pm at the Ruffenach's Funeral Home 4900 Township Line Road, Drexel Hill, PA 19026 and Friday morning 9 - 10:15am at St. Dorothy Church, 4910 Township Line Road, Drexel Hill, PA 19026 where her Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30am
