Mr. Heacock, as he was known to many was an avid traveler; in his lifetime visited 6 continents and 120 countries. His love of travel was born when he was stationed in Heidelberg, Germany with the Army of Occupation.
Richard was a lifelong learner and teacher, he earned his bachelor’s and his master’s degrees from Temple University; after a successful career with the public schools, he spent his retirement years traveling and giving travel talks using his thousands of beautiful photographs to tell stories about the lands and the people he saw and appreciated.
Throughout his life, Richard Heacock participated in and held office with many religious and civic organizations. He was a member of Norwood United Methodist Church for 50 years until he moved to Chadds Ford where he became a member of Hamorton United Methodist Church and finally at West Grove United Methodist Church when he moved to Jenner’s Pond.
Uncle, Mr. Heacock, Richard, is fondly remembered by those who love and honor him, as a man of dignity, humor, discipline, and caring. As in life, he will continue to instruct and be an inspiration to us all.
