Alyce G. Elliott
1937 - 2025
Alyce G. Elliott, age 87, of Drexel Hill, PA, passed away, but not without a fight, on September 1, 2025. She is loved and remembered for her devotion to her family, sharp and spirited wit, and invariably welcoming and warm nature.
Born to Joseph and Marguerite (nee: Young), in Philadelphia and later raised in Darby and Norwood, she quit high school and worked in administrative positions in Philadelphia and Norwood before she met Joseph Elliott whom she married and with whom she raised six children, eventually moving to Drexel Hill.
As her youngest children entered their teens, she obtained her GED and went on to graduate from Widener University with honors and a place in Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. After college she obtained an English as a Second Language certificate and began a fun and fulfilling career teaching and tutoring at Widener University and then Delaware County Community College where she found several kindred spirits and formed some of her most enduring and cherished friendships.
In her free time, Alyce was a lady who lunched and a foodie who loved exploring new restaurants. She was also a gifted gardener, a foreign films buff, avid reader, and a traveler with an interest in learning about other cultures. Several causes were close to her heart, to which she generously contributed time and money.
Alyce is survived by her children Erin and Kerry, as well as siblings Francis, Robert, and James. She is predeceased by her husband Joseph, sons Joseph, Patrick, Francis, and Michael, as well as her siblings Joseph, Richard, Sissy, Raymond, William, and Eugene.
A private celebration of life will be held in Alyce's memory.
