1985 – 2023 

     Andrew J. Dougherty III, “AJ” age 38, of Drexel Hill died unexpectedly April 19, 2023. He was predeceased by his father Andrew J. Dougherty, Jr. and is survived by his spouse Meredith Schuster, daughter Arlie Jane, his mother Michele (Walter) Morley siblings Shannon (Joe) Crowley, Jimmy Dougherty, Colleen Dougherty, his mother and father in law Robert and Anne Schuster. He is also survived by his father Andrew’s wife Anne Dougherty, nieces and nephews; Anthony Crowley, Jayda Crowley, Gia Crowley, Jack Schuster, Remy Schuster, Ryan Schuster, Barrett Schuster, Paige Rosenthal, Clara Rosenthal and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and other loving family and friends.

AJ lived in Drexel Hill most of his life. He attended St. Charles Borromeo, Monsignor Bonner and West Chester University.

In AJ’s twenties, he worked at Duffers Restaurant in Glen Mills, and later at Universal Credit. For the past 5 years AJ worked for CMC Engineering. 

The one trait that most defined AJ was his kindness. He was a people person with an infectious smile. He had a love of baseball, basketball and football and could play ping pong with the best of them in his parents’ basement. He was a good athlete and his teammates admired his competitiveness. He was an avid Phillies and Eagles fan and anyone who listened to sports radio, knew he had an impressive grasp of statistics. 

Growing up AJ and his sister Shannon enjoyed a close relationship. His cousins joked how mild their sibling arguments were - compared to theirs that is! 

AJ had a love of movies and TV. He knew every scene of every movie he saw. With the release of a new film, he was in line at the theatre, usually with his cousin Billy.

In his twenties, he met the love of his life, Meredith Schuster. They recently had a beautiful baby Arlie Jane, named after both maternal grandmothers (notice the Initials).

AJ had a special place in his heart for Meredith’s nephews as well as his sister Shannon’s children. He also loved Colleen and Jimmy, his siblings from his Dad’s second marriage to Nan.

In his thirties, through sober living, AJ grew more spiritual. He practiced meditation and sought enlightenment and peace. We hope he saw his Father in heaven as he left this world. 

On this earth, AJ will be missed terribly by his wife Meredith and all who loved him. We will feel a void that cannot be replaced. We will miss his smile forever. 

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing  6-8pm Wednesday (April 26, 2023) evening and 9-10am Thursday (April 27, 2023) morning at the Ruffenach Funeral Home, 4900 Township Line Road, Drexel Hill, PA 19026. His Funeral Mass will be 10:30am Thursday (April 27, 2023) morning at St. Dorothy Church, 4910 Township Line Road, Drexel Hill, PA 19026 (AJ's Funeral Mass will be Live Streamed on St. Dorothy's Youtube channel). Interment will be private.
