Anna F. Benoit
1957 - 2025
Anna F. Benoit, a cherished sister, aunt, cousin, and friend passed away peacefully on June 12th, 2025, at the age of sixty-eight.
Born on May 15th, 1957, in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, Anna grew up in Lawrence Park and Springfield. Anna was raised in a close-knit Catholic family, spending her summers down the shore in Ventnor, NJ. She delighted in the simple pleasures of beach life, and working at Steele’s Fudge on the boardwalk.
Anna’s formative years were spent at Cardinal O’Hara High School, where she was a proud member of The Blue Haze choir. Her passion for learning led her to Villanova University, where she graduated and began a career as a paralegal in Center City.
However, her true calling was education, and she found immense joy in teaching. For 27 years, Anna inspired young minds, at St. Bernadette’s Catholic School in Drexel Hill, later continuing her vocation at Saint’s Peter & Paul Catholic School in Chester County until her retirement in 2019.
Her dedication to education was matched only by her love for musical theater. Anna was instrumental in organizing and running each school’s annual theater productions, which became highlights of the school year and a testament to her commitment and creativity.
Anna’s love for the arts was unparalleled, and her contributions to community theater were many and significant. She was a longstanding member of several theater groups, including the St. Thomas Players, St. Bernadette Players, and the Players Club of Swarthmore. Her talents in acting and singing brought over fifty productions to life, captivating audiences, and enriching the cultural tapestry of her community.
Among Anna's most memorable performances are Lucy in You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown; a Pick a Little Lady in The Music Man, where she shared the stage with Barbara and Peggy; Adelaide in Guys and Dolls; and her portrayal of Bloody Mary, captivating audiences with "Bali Ha'i," in South Pacific.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents Leonard & Michelina Benoit (Nee Renzulli).
She is survived by her sisters Michele Kerley (Michael), Mary Jo Baringhaus (Kevin), Lenore Benoit (Chastity), niece Amanda, nephews Michael and Nicholas, and a host of extended family and friends to mourn her passing.
