Anne F. Doherty

1952 – 2024

   Anne F. Doherty (nee Monahan), age 72 of Havertown died peacefully December 14, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was predeceased by her parents  Francis and Anne H. (nee Martin) Monahan and sister Patricia Nelson. She is survived by her beloved husband Francis “Frank” Doherty, children Jennifer Doherty, Robert (Lori) Doherty and Susan Doherty, grandchildren Julia Doherty, Robert Doherty, Matthew Doherty and Jake Reed. She is also survived by her brother John Monahan and many nieces and nephews.

     She was born in Philadelphia and attended Saint Agatha and Good Shepherd elementary school. She graduated from West Catholic High School for Girls and attended Saint Joseph’s University.

     Her passion was teaching. For many years she was a nursery school teacher, affectionately known as “Mrs. D.” Her creativity was remarkable- be it Raggedy Ann dolls, sewing, costumes, knitting and crochet, quilting, embroidery, or painting- she could magically produce art from out of nowhere. She even taught classes in all these talents, and was very proud of all her students’ success. After retiring, she turned her time to helping raise her grandchildren.

     No one loved the beach more than Anne, and she enjoyed many vacations down the shore with her husband and family. She always cheered loud- and she wanted to know she was rooting for you. Her shortcuts were always the long way, but the scenery along the way was worth it.

     Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing 10-10:45am, Thursday, December 19, 2024, at St. Bernadette of Lourdes Church, 1035 Turner Avenue, Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania 19026 where her Funeral Mass will follow at 11am. Interment Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations may be in Anne’s memory to the charity of donor’s choice.
