Caroline Carroll
1933 – 2021
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Caroline (Carol) Carroll, most recently of Jennersville, PA, announce her passing. After several months of failing health, she was hospitalized in mid October and passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of November 6.
Carol was born in Reading, PA on May 30,1933 to Edna and Raymond Schindlbeck. She was married on January 24, 1953 to Edward Carroll, and remained so until his passing in 2008. Carol and Ed met while he was recruiting teammates for his bowling team. The couple’s first home was in King of Prussia, and as the family expanded, relocated to Drexel Hill before retiring to Millsboro, DE. Throughout their 55 years of marriage, it was apparent to all that they thoroughly enjoyed each other’s company. Among her many interests, Carol enjoyed reading, bowling, casinos and dancing with Ed. Perhaps her greatest joy was entertaining her children and grandchildren at their shore house.
Once all of her 5 children reached school age, Carol returned to the workforce until her retirement. She prioritized family life always and was a dedicated mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Whenever there was a family function, be it holiday, birthday, or any other special occasion, Carol would be there to both celebrate and lend a helping hand.
Ever faithful to her Lord, Carol remained active in the church, sang in the choir and manifested a Christian spirit in everything she did. Carol’s sense of humor was evident throughout her entire life.
She relocated to Jennersville for the past 7 years to be closer to her ever expanding family.
Carol is predeceased by her husband Edward, her daughter Elizabeth Echtermeyer, grandson Ian Echtermeyer, brother Richard, and sisters Theresa and Patsy. She is survived by her four children and their spouses: Stephen (Donna) Carroll; Martin (Terry) Carroll, Daniel ( Joyce) Carroll; and Ellen ( Joe) Masterson, as well as 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to Viewing Monday 9:30am at Ruffenach Funeral Home, 4900 Township Line Road, Drexel Hill, PA 19026. Her Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30am at St. Dorothy Church, 4910 Township Line Road, Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania 19026. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery.
