Dr. Charles Panos, age 95, of Devon, passed away August 12, 2024.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife Thalia Panos (Tsantes) of nearly 30 years and his first wife, Eleanor Panos (Tsounis) of nearly 27 years and parents of the late George Panos and Mary Panos, dear brother Peter Panos and sister-in-law Mary Panos and Koumbaroi, James and Angie Andropoulos, Frances and John Fudurich, Manuel Kaffenes, James and Jean Manolakis, and many more beloved family and friends. He is survived by his three sons George (Martha) Panos, Nicholas Panos, and Dean (Leslie) Panos, three stepchildren, George K Tsantes, Nicholas (Kathy Provost) Tsantes and Stephanie Tsantes. He was also blessed with grandchildren, Maria Panos, Elizabeth (Stuart) Scholten, Jennifer Panos, Charles Panos, Lexie Tsantes, Alyssa (Nick) Morrow, George Tsantes, Katie (Kyle ) Howard, Nicholas Tsantes, Brian and Caroline Provost, and great grandchildren, Henry Mitchell Scholten, and twins, Sage Howard and Warner Howard. Devoted sister-in-law of CA Lucy Wood, nieces and nephews Chris (Deb) Panos, Michael (Joe) Panos, Nicholas (Briana) Panos and Zachary Panos, Koumbaroi Irene Kaffenes and family and many caring friends and neighbors.
Charles was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He attended the University of Pittsburgh graduating with high honors. He was a professor at Thomas Jefferson University for 30 years. Charles enjoyed being on the admissions committee and guiding students through the process. He was a very devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend, most recently a great-grandfather. Charles was a jack of all trades, able to repair, make or fix most anything in the home. Charles had a passion for horticulture, gardening and being outdoors. He enjoyed attending train shows and maintaining two meticulously kept train rooms. He will be greatly missed, may he rest in peace, with the Lord Jesus.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Wednesday, August 28th, 9am -10am, at Saint Luke Greek Orthodox Church, 35 N Malin Road, Broomall, PA 19008 where his Funeral Mass will follow at 10am. Interment will follow at Arlington Cemetery, 2900 State Road, Drexel Hill, PA 19026.
