Eileen Martin
1929 – 2023
Eileen Martin (nee Moore), age 93, of Drexel Hill, died peacefully March 25, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Robert A. Martin, daughter Karen E. Merlino and son Michael (Kathy) Martin. Survived by children Linda (Dusty) Hidey, Robert (Joan) Martin, Diane (Daniel) Wilson, Susan (Matthew) Mingey, Sandra (Paul) Gamble and Eileen (John) Green, 23 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Also survived by her sister, Diane Locke, and best friend for over 80 years, Evelyn Tronceletti. Predeceased by her sisters Judy (William) DelVecchio, Donna (James) Leonard and Carol (Charles) Howe.
Eileen enjoyed and practiced her faith at Saint Dorothy Church in Drexel Hill since 1950. She worked at Saint Dorothy’s library and bowled in Saint Dorothy’s league. She was a member of Aronimink Swim Club, and enjoyed many summers with her family at the New Jersey shore in Ocean City. Many memories were shared at 1318 – from her tennis group, “The Virginia Fats”, sitting on the beach with her sisters Judy, Diane and Donna, along with her children, and enjoying the late afternoons on the back porch with family. More recently, Eileen enjoyed playing bridge monthly and going to lunch with her friends. She always loved time spent with her family. She wore many hats, and will be remembered forever as Mom, Mother, Mom-Mom, Honey, Eileen, Mrs. Martin, Aunt Eileen, Doll and Speed.
Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing Thursday evening, March 30th, 7-9pm, and Friday, March 31st, 9-10:30am at Ruffenach Funeral Home, 4900 Township Line Road, Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania, 19026. Her Funeral Mass will be Friday, March 31st, at 11:00am at Saint Dorothy Church. Interment Private. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude or Shriners Hospitals for Children would be appreciated.
