ELAINE V. MALONEY
Elaine V. Maloney was born in Philadelphia on September 9, 1939, and died on July 28, 2023. She attended Catholic schools, including Hallahan High school, where she was an excellent, accomplished student, as well as President of her class. She went on to serve as a Philadelphia Catholic Diocesan elementary school teacher. Elaine then realized her inner calling and entered the IHM Villa Maria Convent in Malvern. When her father became critically ill, she returned home to provide the necessary care. After his passing, she and her mother moved to their home in Drexel Hill. Elaine then joined ARCO Chemical Company and became the Executive Administrative Assistant for the leadership of the Newtown Square facility, where she remained until her retirement. Her exceptional ability, contributions, and dedication were greatly appreciated and lauded by the ARCO leadership.
She cherished her numerous friends and family and lived a life in the service of others. She loved to make people laugh and was the person you called when you needed a friend. A perfect day included a dinner of savory salmon and a good martini.
She was predeceased by her mother, Anna Washco Maloney, father, Thomas M. Maloney, brother, Thomas A. Maloney, and his wife, Patricia, as well as her cherished friend and companion, Jim (Murt) O’Hara, with whom she enjoyed many happy years. Elaine leaves behind many loved ones and family members from the West Coast – her Brother Tom’s and wife Pat’s children - Mary Pat and Don Malerk, Tom and Lisa Maloney, Kevin Maloney, Barbara and Richard Moore, Chris and Lisa Maloney, Shawn and Shannon Maloney, and their children and grandchildren, along with cousins Maryann Washco, Alec and Helen Washco, and Alice and Walter Strine.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Visitation 9:45 am Friday, August 4, 2023, at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 3422 Dennison Avenue, Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania, 19026, where her Funeral Mass will follow at 11am. Interment will be at Saint Peter and Paul Cemetery.
