“Betty”

Elizabeth Porth (nee Gavin), age 96, of Lafayette Hill, Maple Glen, and Philadelphia, died peacefully Sunday, October 5, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. She was predeceased by her husband Richard J. Porth, Sr. and parents, the late Thomas and Mary (nee Lavin) Gavin, siblings Joe (Yvonne) Gavin, Martin Gavin, Tom (Mary) Gavin, Bernie Gavin, Mary (Joe) Picco, Bob (Marion) Gavin, Rita (Jim) McInerney, Jack Gavin, Frank (Mary Jeanne) Gavin. She is survived by her children Rick (Colleen) Porth, Betsy Porth, Steve (Mary) Porth, Tom (Bernadette) Porth, and Maria McDermott; 14 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; her sister-in-law Joan Gavin; many nieces, nephews, and generations of extended Gavin family cousins in the United States, Ireland, and England.
Family was always first and foremost for Betty- the family she grew up in as the ninth of ten children and the family she nurtured and raised with her husband, Dick Porth. She gave us many good memories over the years, standing next to ballfields and basketball courts, hitting the beach and the boardwalk down the shore and so much more. Betty shared her craft skills with her children and grandchildren, including painting, knitting dozens of Irish sweaters, as well as scarfs and mittens. There is nothing she loved more than hosting Sunday dinners for her whole family complete with her home made blueberry crumb cake.
Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing Thursday, October 9th, 2025 beginning at 9 am at St. Dorothy Church, 4910 Township Line Road, Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania 19026 where her Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30am. Interment Saint John Neuman Cemetery, 3797 County Line Road, Chalfont, Pennsylvania 18914 (786-998-2844)
