F. Donald Barr of Havertown, PA, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2025, at the age of 97.

Donald was predeceased by his beloved son, Philip D. Barr; his parents, Philip R. and Marie C. Barr (née Chobert); and his brother, Reverend Philip R. Barr.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 70 years, Joan R. Barr; his children: Donna, Brian (late wife Anne), Karen Barr-McKinney (late husband Jack), Laurie (Francis) Mullen, Beth Anne (James) DiFabio, Kellie (Damon) Shearer, and daughter-in-law, Carolyn Barr. He is also survived by 11 loving grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, his brother, D. Robert Barr, as well as nieces, nephews, and all who were fortunate to have known him.

Born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, Donald was a proud graduate of Saint Thomas More High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army after graduation and served overseas in Italy. After his service, he went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from Saint Joseph’s College in Philadelphia, PA. In 1952, Donald co-founded Robert Francis, Inc., a religious goods business, with his parents and brothers. The family business continues to serve the religious community after more than 70 years.

In his youth, Donald was a talented athlete, excelling in baseball and golf. In later years, he enjoyed being a spectator of college and professional sports, especially all Philadelphia sports teams.  

Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Friday, March 14, 2025, 9:00 to 10:30 AM at Sacred Heart Church, 105 Wilson Ave., Havertown, PA 19083 where his Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 AM. Interment SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
