Genevieve is predeceased by her loving husband Daniel Giangiulio along with her parents, Frank and Josephine Lavalla, and her siblings Marie, Angie, and Gus.

Genevieve is survived by her children: Anita Morro (nee Giangiulio) and her husband Bob Morro; Daniel Giangiulio and his wife Donna Giangiulio (nee DiDio). She is also survived by her six granddaughters Juliana Studer (nee Morro), Danielle Bertoni (nee Morro), Anita Volk (nee Morro), Anna Hummel (nee Giangiulio), Teresa Horn (nee Giangiulio), and Angela Liberatore (nee Giangiulio)] and one grandson (Rob Morro) and their spouses. She took great joy from her seven great-grandchildren: Michael, Luca, Anna, Theo, Nico, Roman, and Vinny. She is also survived by her beloved brother Jim Lavalla and her in laws, Dorothy Giangiulio Newsome, Richard Giangiulio, Doris Giangiulio, Nancy Giangiulio, Alda Giangiulio. She enjoyed 38 nieces and nephews who were each very dear to her.

Genevieve was blessed with a full life. Born and raised in South Philadelphia, 16th and Ritner. She belonged to St. Monica’s parish and attended St. Monica’s School and J.W. Hallihan Catholic Girls’ High School. Genevieve thrived in her exciting job as a secretary for the president of an Engineering firm in Philadelphia. She also enjoyed a fun job at the Whitman Candy Factory teaching us about how you can tell what’s inside the chocolate candies by the swirl pattern on the top of each piece.

Her love for the Family guest house on Texas Ave. in Atlantic City provided decades of summer fun and memories. She even met her husband at the shore house introduced by her cousin, Grace Alameno, who was dating Daniel’s roommate Carman from Ursinus College. Genevieve and Daniel married on November 17th 1956. Together they raised their two children, Anita and Daniel in Havertown, PA, close to both their large extended families. During this time, Genevieve also worked as the secretary for Welsh Valley Middle School in Lower Merion.

In summers, Genevieve and Daniel loved to spend time at their 88th St. Stone Harbor beach house where they formed close friendships playing endless hours of trivial pursuit. In later years, Genevieve generously opened her home there to her many grandchildren. She often treated them to a special “Nanny walk” to “The Avenue” to pick out a toy treat at Hoys 5&10 and a Butterscotch Brickle ice cream scoop at Springers.

Genevieve has been a woman of great faith all her life.  She played an active role in her home parish of St. Bernadette’s where she was a lector and Eucharistic minister for several decades. She spent years leading women closer to Christ in her beloved Cursillo and spiritually mentored many. She offered her home for over 25 years every Saturday morning to an intimate and cherished group of prayer sisters.

She would like to be remembered as a devoted follower of OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST and for all to know that for her and her house, we serve the LORD.
