Harold Roney, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and lifelong farmer, passed away peacefully at home at the age of 91 on January 6, 2025. Born on April 19, 1933, in Oxford, Pennsylvania, Harold was the youngest of five children born to Bela and Herles Roney.
Harold was married for 69 years to his devoted wife, Ruthann. Together they had two children Donna and Daryl Roney. Their enduring love was the heart of his life, and together they built a family and a home grounded in deep respect, love, and partnership. Harold’s affection for Ruthann was evident in every part of his life, and she remained his greatest companion throughout their years together.
Harold’s son, Daryl Roney of Oxford, PA, worked alongside him on the farm for many years. They shared a strong bond, and Harold was proud to see his son continue the family’s farming legacy. Their days were spent raising dairy and beef cattle, as well as growing hay and corn, forming a lifelong connection to the land they both loved.
Harold’s greatest joy, however, was his two granddaughters Amanda and Ashley Roney of North East, MD. He adored them deeply and cherished every moment spent with them, always offering his quiet wisdom and love.
A lifelong farmer, Harold was deeply connected to the land. He had a passion for the outdoors, and enjoyed hunting and fishing in his spare time. His hardworking nature and strong values left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.
Harold was preceded in death by his wife, Ruthann, and his daughter Donna, his siblings Helen Roney, Marion Roney, Marie Reburn, and Herles Roney Jr. and as well as his parents, Bela and Herles Roney. He is survived by his son, Daryl Roney; granddaughters, Amanda and Ashley; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will miss him dearly.
