Henry Staszesky Obituary

Henry W. Staszesky, age 75, of Nottingham, PA passed away peacefully with his wife by his side on July 21, 2022. Born in Wilmington, DE, Henry was the son of the late Henry and Emma (Lee) Staszesky. Henry is survived by his loving wife, Monica, his sister and brother-in-law, Patty and Don Steen, and several nieces and nephews.

Henry served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged. He began working at I.D. Griffith in Wilmington, followed by employment at Delmarva Power in the Gas Department. He retired in 2003. Henry volunteered at Tri-State Bird Rescue, serving on their Board for several years, and built large outdoor cages for recovering raptors, such as hawks and eagles. After retiring, he volunteered at Ware Presbyterian Village, assisting at Holy Mass and bringing Holy Communion to the bedbound residents. He also delivered Meals on Wheels to the homebound until his illness gradually prevented him from participating. Henry was a huge "motor head" from his youth and had several special cars. His very favorites were his '69 Mustang and his '33 Ford coupe which he totally rebuilt himself. Henry and Monica enjoyed many fun trips in the '33 Ford. Although he had many talents, he was a very humble man. When Henry and Monica moved to Nottingham in 2001, Henry enjoyed creating his dream woodworking shop. He used his natural talent for carpentry making furniture, crafts and his most cherished work, making items for Sacred Heart Church. It was his greatest joy to contribute to Sacred Heart.

Henry was raised Methodist and served as an usher in his youth. He chose to become Catholic in his late 30s and was a man of deep faith, serving in various ministries in the Parish of St. Matthew (DE) and the Church of the Sacred Heart in Oxford, the parish he and Monica belonged to since 2001. Henry loved being a "daily Mass attendee" after his retirement.

Henry's wife would like to thank the many doctors and nurses who cared for Henry during his long illness, those from Chester County Hospital/Penn Medicine, especially nurses Kat and Amy with Penn Palliative Care.

Services will be held at Sacred Heart Church, 203 Church Road, Oxford on Saturday, July 30, 2022 beginning with visitation at 10 a.m., followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Burial will immediately follow at Oxford Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tri-State Bird Rescue (DE), Best Friends Animal Sanctuary (UT), or Sacred Heart Church.
