James F. Harvey Sr., husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, veteran, and lifelong provider, passed away on January 24, 2026, holding his beloved wife's hand.
James proudly served in the United States Navy from 1967 to 1971, including service during the Vietnam War. He achieved the rank of Third-Class Petty Officer, carrying with him a strong sense of duty, discipline, and pride that defined his life both in and out of uniform.
James was born in Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Monsignor Bonner High School in 1967. He married the love of his life, Margaret Harvey (nee Mescall), on February 22, 1969, beginning a devoted marriage that spanned more than five decades.
Following his military service, James worked as a truck driver and was a proud, retired member of the Teamsters Union. He was known for his strong work ethic and his unwavering commitment to providing for his family.
James made his home in Oxford, Pennsylvania, where he resided for 26 years. He found joy in woodworking, fixing anything that needed repair for his family, and taking great pride in mowing his lawn on his John Deere. He was happiest when working with his hands and helping those he loved.
James is survived by his wife, Margaret; his son James F. Harvey Jr., married to Linda, and their children Meghan Losee, married to Isaac, and their children Harvey and Harrison; Abigail, and Elizabeth; his daughter Jennifer Shallow, married to Joseph, and their children Emily, Margaret, and Jacob; and his daughter Rebecca Harvey, and her son Daniel. James will be remembered as a steady, dependable presence. A man who showed love through action, service, and quiet dedication. His legacy lives on through his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all those whose lives he touched.
A viewing will be held on February 5 from 10:00–10:45 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Oxford, Pennsylvania, followed by a Mass at 11:00 a.m.
