Janet Colella

Janet S. (nee Salvadore) age 81 on November 26, 2022, of Drexel Hill. Wife of the late Theodore Colella, Jr., mother of Andrea L. (Paul) DeSanto and Stephen T. Colella, sister of Loretta S. (John) Hartnett and Robert A. (Theresa) Salvadore, grandchildren Anthony (Brandi) Colella, Danielle Colella, Alexis Colella, Joseph Colella and Joshua Colella. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. 

Janet was born in South Philadelphia, to Domenic and Rose Salvadore. Upon graduating from the Academy of Notre Dame de Namur at Rittenhouse Square, Janet began her career at Fidelity Bank, continuing at First Union Bank, and rising to Branch Manager at Wells Fargo Bank. Always staying active, she continued to work during retirement at Alliance Bank in Broomall and then at the Springfield Country Club. 

She loved spending time with her family especially while on vacation in Ocean City, NJ. Her passion was cooking, as she was a master in the kitchen, always creating delicious meals for everyone to enjoy. Her pasta and tomato gravy, ham pie and Easter bread were always excellent. 

Janet enjoyed her faith, celebrating over 52 years as a member of St. Bernadette’s Parish in Drexel Hill fulfilling the roles of librarian, Eucharistic Minister, Holy Matrimony rehearsal advisor and as a Confraternity of Christian Doctrine teacher of the Sacrament of First Communion. 

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewings Sunday 6-8pm at Ruffenach Funeral Home, 4900 Township Line Road, Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania 19026 and Monday 9:30 am at St. Bernadette of Lourdes Church, 1035 Turner Ave., Drexel Hill where her Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30am. Interment Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Heart Association.
