Joan A. McGlynn

1934 – 2025

   Joan A. McGlynn, age 90, of Media (formerly of Drexel Hill) died peacefully September 6, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was predeceased by her husband Dennis C. McGlynn and her parents the late John and Helen (nee Brennan) Kemple, and her sisters Mary O’Toole, and Patsy Dunlap.    She is survived by her loving children Eileen (Tom) Guest, Marybeth McGlynn, and Denny (Marnie) McGlynn. Also survived by grandchildren Michael, Tracey, Kim, Mallory, Maggie, and Grace and her great grandchildren Emma, Joey and Allie.

    She was born in the small Pennsylvania coal mining town of Cumbola.  Her father John was a coal miner, and her mother Helen was a teacher.  After graduating high school Joan chose to pursue the noble career of Nursing, she earned her RN degree and started her career at St. Agnes Hospital in Philadelphia.  Throughout her life she continued to care for others, including roles as a middle school nurse and running her own small day care business.  

Joan married the love of her life Dennis McGlynn on December 28, 1957.  They were happily married until “Denny” passed in 2012.  Joan was very social and had many friends, but her number one devotion was to her 3 children.  She loved them with all heart as they loved her.  Her lasting legacy will be her role as the best mother and an even greater grandmother to her 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

         Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation Saturday, September 20, 2025 beginning at 9:00am-10:15am at St. Dorothy Church, 4910 Township Line Road her Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30am. Interment Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery
