John J. Brignola
1928 – 2023
John J. Brignola, age 94, of Wayne, PA, formerly of Havertown, died peacefully October 1, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. He was predeceased by parents the late Gaetano and Ida (nee Catenacci) Brignola and brothers Michael Brignola and Armand Brignola. He is survived by his beloved wife Connie (nee Cocciardi) Brignola, son John Brignola, daughter Maria (Donald Altman) Brignola and grandchildren Adam Lee, Jacqueline (Walter Morrisette) Brignola, Jenna Brignola, and Gabe Lee.
John was born in south Philadelphia where he met Connie. They enjoyed a loving and devoted marriage for 63 years and raised their family in Havertown. John was educated at Villanova University and Philadelphia College of Optometry. Prior to his retirement, he worked for many years as an optometrist, where he made it a priority to ensure that everyone in the extended family had their vision needs met. He served his nation honorably as a Medical Specialist in the US Army and was stationed at Valley Forge Army Hospital.
As a father and grandfather, John proudly participated in their activities from childhood through adulthood, cheering them on and encouraging them on their life journeys. In retirement, one of John’s favorite hobbies was working with wood, making special Christmas ornaments and other meaningful objects that he gave to his son and daughter and grandchildren. John’s unique sense of humor always brought a smile to his friends and family. His heart was filled with love and joy for the success and happiness of others. John will leave an endearing impact on all who were blessed to have known him.
Services and interment will be Private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John’s memory to the American Heart Association.
