John T. Butler, Sr.

1942 – 2025

   John T. Butler, Sr., age 82, of Drexel Hill died peacefully March 30, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was predeceased by his parents the late George and Rose (nee McGrath) Butler, siblings Miriam Newlon, Rosie Riley, and brother in law Tom Riley. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Janet Butler (nee Irwin); children Lynn Butler (Mike Allen), Patti Callahan (Tommy), Johnny Butler and Colleen Butler and his beloved grandson Declan Callahan and step grandson Michael Allen. Also survived by his brother Tony Butler (Lindsey), sister Marcy Roche (Jesse) and many nieces and nephews. 

  John grew up in Saint Matthias Parish in Bala Cynwyd and attended Monsignor Bonner High School. He was a long-time parishioner of Saint Dorothy’s Parish in Drexel Hill. 

  John spent years coaching varies youth sports groups with his best friend since first grade, Joe Redican. 

  Besides the beach, his biggest joy was watching his grandson Declan on the baseball or lacrosse field. 

   Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation Thursday, April 3, 2025 beginning at 12:30pm at St. Dorothy Church, 4910 Township Line Road Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania 19026 where his Funeral Mass will follow at 1:30pm. 

In lieu of flower donation can be made to Saint Dorothy Athletic Association.
