Kirtie L. Simpkins Jr.
1939-2024
Kirtie Simpkins, 85, of Oxford, PA died peacefully at home, Saturday, November 23, 2024. He was the husband of Freda (nee Fitzgerald) Simpkins with whom he shared 56 years of marriage.
Born in Elkton, MD he was the only son of the late Kirtie L. Simpkins Sr. and Leona (nee Smith) Simpkins. He was preceded in death by his sister, JoAnn (nee Simpkins) Hendrickson and his son Kirtie L. Simpkins III.
Kirtie attended Oxford Area High School, class of 1957. He served in the United States Navy for 4 years. He worked at Cyclop Strapping Corporation in Downingtown, PA for 31 years as a machinist and American Manufacturing Technologies of Avondale, PA 12 years before retiring. He was a member of Society of Manufacturing Engineers.
Kirtie enjoyed taking pictures of the family at special events. He also enjoyed playing the guitar in his spare time and doing odd jobs around his home. He really enjoyed reading and studying the Bible.
He is survived by his wife, Freda and his children, Kim Ganderton, Joseph Simpkins, Jamie Simpkins (Teresa), Deanna R. Jones (Andrew), and Jonathan Simpkins (Elizabeth). His grandchildren, Joshua Ganderton, Cortney (nee Williams) Bish, Brooke Ganderton, Aaron Simpkins, Julia Simpkins, Kelsie Simpkins, Mason Simpkins, Katrina Jones, Xander Simpkins, Ethan Simpkins, Kayleen Jones, Calen Simpkins, Logan Simpkins, Hannah Simpkins, and Samantha Simpkins and 6 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Doris (nee Simpkins) Hendrickson and many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews.
He loved the Lord and had a deep faith in Jesus Christ. Kirtie was a founding member of Christ Church at the Grove.
Relatives and friends are invited to Kirtie’s life memorial on Friday, December 6, 2024 at 9:30am followed by a service at 11:00am and a luncheon immediately after the service. Visitation and service to be held at Christ Church at the Grove 1772 New London Rd., Landenberg, PA 19350. Interment will be private.
