1934 – 2021

     Louis John Florio, Sr.  age 86, of Drexel Hill, died peacefully Thursday, May 6, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. Louis is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years Patricia “Pat” (nee Hammond) Florio, a son Louis John Florio, Jr. and his wife Marie Elaina, four grandchildren; Andrew, Evan, Isabella and Owen. He is also survived by two nephews Frank Florio and John Florio and predeceased by his brother Frank Florio .

     Louis J. Florio was born and raised in South Philadelphia. A dedicated worker, he was employed at the Philadelphia Navy Yard for 37 years. Above all else, he valued his faith and his family. He was a devout Catholic, attending mass weekly at Saint Dorothy’s in Drexel Hill where he was a parishioner for 51 years and always striving to instill a strong foundation of faith in his sons and grandchildren. He was a loyal husband, married to his loving wife, Patricia, for 53 years.  His greatest joy was spending time with his son, Louis Jr. and his grandchildren, Andrew, Evan, Isabella, and Owen. He was an avid Notre Dame football fan, creating quite a stir on game day in the Florio house. In addition to his love of Notre Dame, he was an aficionado of fine foods. He found great pleasure in taking his grandchildren to sophisticated restaurants and watching them try different types of cuisine. However, the happiest days of his life were spent in Walt Disney World with his grandchildren. He shared their excitement and childlike innocence while there, enjoying the food, atmosphere, and fun. Our fierce protector and greatest supporter, Louis will be deeply missed but will live on in our hearts and minds forever. 

   Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing Monday 9 am at St. Dorothy Church, 4910 Township Line Road, Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania 19026, where his Funeral Mass will follow at  10:30am. Interment St Denis Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donation St Dorothy Church would be appreciated
