Margaret J. (Mannion) Skane

Margaret J. Skane (nee Mannion) age 93, of Drexel Hill, formerly of East Lansdowne, died peacefully at home on June 19, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late John J. Skane. Born in County Galway, Ireland.  She came to the U.S. in 1950. Daughter of the late Patrick and Ellen (nee Killilea) Mannion.  Survived by her loving children: James (Kathy), Mark (Terri), Sharon (Joseph) Cornacchia, Patricia Lennon, Deborah (Thomas) Scally, and Stephen; and special close family friend, Donna Myers; her 11 grandchildren, Michael (Kim), Heather (Anthony), Kerrin (Josh), Brittany, Kaylee, Emily, Matthew (Maggie), Dale, Tyler and Joseph; great-grandchildren, Hailey, Wyatt, Nolan and Violet; her sisters: Mary (Willie) Somers of Ireland and Breege (late Patrick) Gilligan of England and sisters in law Jane (late William) Hettinger and Sister James Skane, MSC. She was predeceased by her son Gregory Skane; grandson Evan Lennon; brothers William (Imelda), Matthew and Thomas (Bina) a sister Eileen (William) Rafferty. Also survived by many nieces and nephews here and abroad. 

She loved her family and friends, which were the joys of her life.   She enjoyed having family get-togethers and loved throwing parties (for any occasion)!  Her favorite places to go were Boscov’s, antique shops, casinos and having “Happy Hour at the Villa” every Friday night with her chilled “Nana” glass of red wine!  

She was the rock and pillar of her family and had a strong faith in God.  She was always there to listen and give advice, if needed.  She had a strength like no other, even to the end of her life.  You could say she was a homemaker, but she was much more than that.  She was a wonderful Mom to more than just her children.  She loved and cared for friends of the family and considered them her family as well. She left a lasting legacy of love that will be remembered forever!

Viewing will be held on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at St. Dorothy Catholic Church, 4910 Township Line Rd., Drexel Hill, PA, Funeral Mass will follow.  Interment at SS Peter and Paul Cemetery, 1600 Sproul Rd., Springfield, PA.
