Marie D. Rodgers (nee Uhl) age 90, of Drexel Hill died peacefully after a short illness on January 18, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was predeceased by her beloved husband James S. Rodgers, parents Charles and Marie (nee Dollmeirer), sister Dorothy Foster, great grandchildren Domenico DeVito and Mia DeVito. She is survived by her 7 children: James S. (Marilyn) Rodgers, Anne (Bob) DeMaio, Carolyn (Tom) Gallo, Thomas M. (Chris) Rodgers, John P. (Melissa) Rodgers, Michael C. (Erin) Rodgers and Cindy (Tim) Hickey. Marie is also survived by her sister Joan McGuckin, 24 adoring grandchildren, 16 and counting great grandchildren and numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Marie was born in Philadelphia, attended St Augustine's Elementary School and John W. Hallahan Girls Catholic High School. Marie and Jim met in the 1950s, married and started their epic story in Drexel Hill. Marie loved her family, the sun and her iced tea. She spent many summers bringing her children to Aronimink Swim Club. As her children grew older, Marie has treated her ever growing family to a family week down the shore for the last 30 years. Granny's Beach Week has been celebrated in Sea Isle City for decades. Her gift of family is one that will be treasured and passed down for generations to come.
Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing 9:30-10:45am Saturday, January 27, 2024, at St. Andrew the Apostle Church, 3500 School Lane, Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania 19026 where her Funeral Mass will follow at 11am. Interment Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery.
