Mary Ries

1928 – 2025

   Mary Ries (Smith), age 96, of Moorestown, NJ formally of Drexel Hill, Hershey’s Mill PA and Ocean City NJ, died peacefully January 23, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was predeceased by her husband James A. Ries, their sons, Jerry and Jimmy, her parents the late William Joseph, Mary (McReavy) Smith and her brothers, William, Joseph and Gerald (Jerry).

 She is survived by her loving children and their spouses, Terry (Bill) Fitzgerald, Collegeville PA, Peggy (Tom) Muller, Ocean City, NJ, Bill (Andrea) Ries, Downingtown, PA, Joanne (Hisham) El-Kadi, Princeton, NJ, Christine (Randy) Normand, Lumberton, NJ. Loving Mimi of 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

 Mary was born in Philadelphia, PA, graduated from St. Leonard’s Academy, Holy Child Academy, Sharon Hill, and Rosemont College, and later earned her Master’s degree from St. Joseph’s University, Philadelphia and her Master Plus Thirty at Antioch College.

 She was an educator in the Philadelphia School District, spending her career as a kindergarten teacher, at John B. Kelly School in Germantown PA. Mary led a vibrant and active life, enjoying boating, bowling, bridge, golf, and tennis.

  Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing, Saturday, February 1, 2025, beginning at 9:30 am at St. Dorothy Church, 4910 Township Line Road Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania 19026 where her Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00am. Interment Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery.
