Mary Louise Sheehan

1937-2022

Mary Louise Sheehan (nee Kugler) of Springfield passed away peacefully on May 26, 2022. 

Mary Lou was born in Philadelphia on September 19, 1937, to John and Mary (nee Heagney) Kugler. She was the oldest of their four children. Mary Lou grew up in the Highland Park community of Upper Darby. She attended St. Laurence School and West Catholic Girls’ High School. 

In 1961 Mary Lou married Jerome F. Sheehan (Jerry) and eventually settled in Springfield, PA to raise their seven children together. 

Mary Lou was a devoted and loving wife to Jerry for over 60 years. She was a wonderful mother who always enjoyed being surrounded by her large family. She lived a life of service to her Church, her children, and their schools. In addition to her family, Mary Lou enjoyed the love and support of her siblings, her extended family, and many lifelong friends. In later years, her fifteen grandchildren were the source of immense pride and joy. 

Mary Lou is survived by her loving husband, Jerry, and her seven devoted children: Jerome Jr., Dennis (Eileen), Mary Lou Gonzalez (Berto), John (Nicole), Thomas (Annmarie), Colleen Klapinsky, and Theresa Dorley (Andy). She is also survived by her fifteen adoring grandchildren: Berto, Aine, Mary, Teresa, Charlie, Maria, Owen, Madison, Jerome, Tara, Colin, Shane, Ana, Andrew, and Emma.

Also surviving Mary Lou are her sisters, Geraldine Wagner and Kathleen Maguire, her brother, John Kugler (Tina), and many loving nieces and nephews. 

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing Thursday evening, June 2, from 5-7pm and Friday morning, June 3, from 9-10:15 am at St. Dorothy Church, 4910 Township Line Road, Drexel Hill, PA 19026 where her Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 am.

Interment will be at Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary Lou’s memory to St. Dorothy School, Drexel Hill would be appreciated.
