Patricia “Pat” M. Peterson, age 80, of Havertown died peacefully on June 13, 2025, at her daughter’s home in Coatesville, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 4, 1944 in Philadelphia to Marie and Paul Peterson. Patricia grew up on Cedar Avenue in West Philadelphia and attended St. Leonard’s Academy followed by Rosemont College. She graduated in 1966 with a degree in chemistry.
Throughout her professional career, she worked for SmithKline, M.A.B. Paints, ARCO Chemicals and NeoResins Inc. While at M.A.B. Paint as a Polymer Coating Chemist, Patricia was integral in the formulation of the paints used to coat steel structures such as the bridges of Philadelphia, Veteran’s Stadium, as well as, the astronaut training swim tank at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston.
A true music enthusiast, she enjoyed attending performances at the Walnut Street Theater, Philadelphia Symphony and Opera Philadelphia. She was a long-time parishioner of St. Dorothy’s Church, where she also sang Soprano in the church choir. Her hobbies included completing the daily Philly Inquirer crossword puzzles, reading mysteries, gardening, bird watching, and vacationing at the Jersey Shore. Pat was an avid Phillies fan and never missed watching a televised game.
She is survived by her daughter’s Claire Progner and Maria (Paul) Hadzor, grandchildren Lea, Elena, Julianna, Brendan & Amelie, her brother Paul, sister-in-law Alicia, and nephew’s Paul (Anne) and Edward (Stacey).
Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation on Friday, June 20, 2025 beginning at 9:30 at St. Dorothy’s Parish Church, 4910 Township Line Road, Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania 19026 where her Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30am. Interment Saint Charles Cemetery, Drexel Hill.
