Peter Howard Orlovsky (born & died August 7th, 2024)
Peter Howard Orlovsky, was born deceased on Wednesday, August 7th, 2024 at Camp Spofford in New Hampshire. Though we know neither the precise moment when his life began and Light filled the secret place, nor when his little heart stopped beating, we believe the words of King David recorded in Psalm 139:16, that God saw Peter before he was born. Every day of his life was recorded in His book; every moment of his life was laid out before a single day had passed.
Peter’s name was chosen to honor his Great Grandfather, Peter Groop; and his grandfather, Andrew Howard Groop. At nearly eighteen weeks gestation, Peter not only had a heartbeat, but his whole little body had been perfectly formed with ten fingers, ten toes, a sweet face with eyes, ears, mouth, and nose. He could move and kick and flip. He could yawn and hiccup and his hearing had already begun to develop! Though he was born too early for life on this earth, he was fully a person whose spirit is now with Jesus in Heaven.
Peter is survived by his loving parents, Rebecca and Andrew Orlovsky; his two older brothers Jack and Hawken; and two older sisters, Lily and Elizabeth, of Rising Sun, Maryland; his grandparents John and Cindy Orlovsky of Windber, PA; and Judy and Andy Groop, of Quarryville, PA; his Tio Eric & Tia Yami, and cousin, Vincent Orlovsky, of Johnstown, PA; his Uncle, Andrew J. Groop; his Tante Nancy Gundersen; along with a large extended family and many dear friends.
Peter’s family is devastated at his loss, but they do not grieve as those who have no hope (1 Thessalonians 4:13) because they know that though his body remains, his soul is with Jesus in heaven because of the truth found in 2 Corinthians 5:8: "to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord."
A celebration of life service for Peter will be held graveside as we lay his body to rest on Wednesday, 14 August, at 9:30am.
