1939 – 2026
Richard “Dick” A. Parkinson, age 86, of Springfield died peacefully, Friday, January 9, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Patricia (nee Moran) Parkinson, sons Dennis (Gloria) Parkinson, Timothy (Linda) Parkinson, and Patrick (Amy) Parkinson; his grandchildren Krista (Matt), Marissa (Casey) Wellman , Erin, Ella, and Jack; his great grandchild Emerald; sister Lorraine Parkinson; and many nieces and nephews. Richard was predeceased by his parents the late Anthony and Beatrice (nee Heineman) Parkinson, grandson John Ryan Parkinson, sister Beatrice Flanigan, and brother Jim Parkinson.
He was born and raised in South Philadelphia and graduated from Bishop Neumann H.S. Dick was a devoted family man and took great pleasure in attending his grandchildren’s various activities. Dick was a retired truck driver for Wawa, and began his second career as a court crier at the Delaware County Court House. His legacy lives on. He will be dearly missed, and always in our hearts.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing Friday, January 16, 2026 beginning at 10am at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 136 Saxer Ave, Springfield, PA 19064, where his Funeral Mass will follow at 11am. Interment Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Richards memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or March of Dimes.
