Robert Harbulak Obituary

ROBERT J. HARBULAK

Age 74, peacefully journeyed to Heaven on Saturday September 3, 2022, after an eight year battle with Parkinson’s and recent health developments. Bob/Bobby/Rob had an infectious smile that would brighten anyone’s day and he was a joy to be with. To know him was to love him. He was known and loved by so many in his caring South Philly community growing up. He would ride his bike and visit with welcoming neighborhood friends. They would invite him in, sit on the step and chat, give or buy him treats. He had a wonderful next door neighbor, Lori, who would look out for him and keep his sister posted after his parents died. Bob was born with developmental disabilities, but that didn’t  stop him, especially as he grew older. He worked diligently at all the jobs he held, the Spectrum, Philadelphia Children’s Zoo and Program For Exceptional People (PEP). He had several newspaper articles about him that he so appreciated; helping people he saw hurt while taking his many walks or just his friendliness; and wonderful article about life and his job at the zoo. He thrived on attention, and they made him so proud! His sister was his greatest fan and helped him create many milestones. She had many friends who helped her; and her wonderful husband Steve, who stood by her, and always supported her.

Born to the late Andrew and Rita (Cardillino) Harbulak, he is survived by his sister Joan Bullock (Stephen) and distant family and dear friends, especially one of his amazing caregivers, Ray King, who has been  there for him and Joan, for a very long time. And also many of his sister’s Facebook friends, who never met him, but cared and supported them through her posts
