Robert Struzik Obituary

Robert Thomas Struzik, age 85, of Oxford, PA, passed away March 23, 2023. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Marilyn Laura Struzik, his two children, Tom Struzik (wife Jeni Rathbun) of Houston, Texas, and Lorie Struzik (husband Eric Van Voorhees) of Landenberg, PA and his three amazing grandchildren, Savannah Struzik (Houston), Kyra Van Voorhees and Jake Van Voorhees (Landenberg).

Robert was born on January 9, 1938 to Charles and Ann Struzik in Hammond, IN.  After graduating from Thorton Fractional High School in Calumet City, IL, he went on to work for Illinois Bell Telephone Company as a phone installer.  While Robert was working there, he met fellow employee, Marilyn Siltanen, and they married in 1960.

After climbing the corporate ladder, Robert retired in Newton, NJ as a Technical Computer Manager with BellCore. Upon retirement, Robert enjoyed skiing and fly fishing as well as doting on his grandchildren.

Robert was a devoted family man, and became involved in his children’s activities, such as Cub Scouts, the High School Athletic Association, Little League and civic activities.

Robert summered with his family in Canada at their cottage on Lake Superior, where he and Marilyn spent many hours on his prized boat, fishing for steelhead and lake trout. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hiking, and boating with his children and grandchildren throughout the years. It was always an adventure.

Services will be held at Ware Presbyterian Village on April 11th.  An additional remembrance gathering will be held at Horseshoe Bay, Canada in July.   To honor Robert, since he was always helping others, you are welcome to make a donation to the charity of your own choice.
