Ronald J. Lavin
1942 – 2025
Ronald J. Lavin, age 83, of Drexel Hill died peacefully December 31, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. He was predeceased by his wife Kathleen A. Lavin, daughter Shannon Lavin, parents the late Veronica Healey and John Lavin. He is survived by his sons Christopher (Sandy) Lavin and Shawn (Aimee) Lavin, grandchildren; Allissa, Kacey, Olivia and Jacob. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was born in Philadelphia on October 9, 1942. His father, John, was killed in action during the D-Day Invasion. He graduated from Monsignor Bonner in 1960. After high school he enlisted in the Army earning the rank of sergeant. Ronald spent 27 years as a decorated police officer and detective for the Upper Darby Police Department. He then worked for the Upper Darby School District as an attendance officer. He was an active member of his community as the president of the Upper Darby Little League, where he created a league for disabled children, and as the assistant coach for Monsignor Bonner JV team. He enjoyed family vacations to Disney World and the shore, and bowling in leagues at Sproul Lanes. But most of all he enjoyed spending time with family and friends, often regaling them with his many true-life stories as only he could.
Relatives and friends are invited to Visitation Saturday, January 17th, 2026 9:30 am at St. Dorothy Church, 4900 Township Line Road, Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania 19026 where his Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 am. Inurnment Holy Cross Cemetery.
