1967 - 2023

Steven M. Sachs, 55, of Lewes, DE passed away on Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at ChristianaCare AccentCare Hospice, Wilmington, DE. Steven was born September 20, 1967 in West Chester, PA, the beloved son of the late Frederick J. Sachs and Joan (Dessender) Sachs. He grew up in the Exton area. From a young age, Steven loved popular music on the radio. At 9, he formed his first band, Fury, with his friends, playing the electric guitar. He continued to play the guitar, sing, and write songs throughout his life.  He was also an avid sports fan. Steven played football, baseball, and swam for Pennypacker every summer since he was six. 

In his high school years at Bishop Shanahan, Steven hit the local slopes with the ski club and helped start the first boy’s swim team. After he got his driver’s license, Steven could often be found in the driveway, under his car, keeping it running smoothly. This hobby led him to earn a B.S. in electrical engineering. He was a champion swimmer and medalist on Widener University swim team and graduated with his Phi Delta Theta brothers in 1989. Steven continued his education to complete a master’s in computer engineering from Villanova University.

During his career as a project consultant, Steven worked and traveled throughout the United States, and enjoyed cooking and writing, and strumming a guitar in his spare time. Steven also loved spending time outside in the sunshine, next to a pool, and enjoyed a long career as a lifeguard. He’s wit, style, and sing-alongs in the car will be genuinely missed by all who knew him. 

Steven is survived by a daughter, Gabrielle Montgomery and grandchildren, Natale and Valentina Rose Russo. Also survived by his brother, Richard, sister, Dana (Rob Walser), and niece, Veronica Walser.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Visitation on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, 9:30 - 10:15 am at St. Dorothy’s Church, 4910 Township Line Rd, Drexel Hill, PA 19026, where his Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 am. Interment is at Ss. Peter & Paul Cemetery, 1600 Sproul Rd, Springfield, PA 19064.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations can be made to Pennsylvania SPCA, International Global Animal Rescue to honor Steven’s love for dogs and the outside birds he always kept fed at his home in Lewes.
