Therese F. Young 

1927 – 2023 

     Therese F. Young age 96, died peacefully July 14, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She was predeceased by her husband Frank P. Young and her parents the late John F. and Margaretta (nee Baker) Hanlon, and siblings. She is survived by her sons Robert (Annette) Young, John (Loretta) Young and Jim Young, and grandchildren Annie, Rob and Grace, Maggie, Jack, and Aidan.  Therese was born in the Roxborough section of Philadelphia, the youngest daughter of 9 children, and spent many early years of her life counting the steps on her way to school at St John the Baptist in Manayunk.  After working at McNeil Laboratories for 15 years, she married Frank in 1963 and welcomed three children.  The next two decades were filled with hosting countless family parties, and neighborhood gatherings and many days spent at Norwood-Fontbonne Academy as a loyal parent and fan of its sports teams.  Therese highly valued her family and friends and gave of her time and good cheer to those in need.  She and Frank greatly enjoyed travelling and family excursions were often spent at notable destinations.  Later in life Therese turned her attention towards new endeavors and spent many enjoyable hours at Whitemarsh Valley Country Club playing bridge and socializing with friends and family.  The title of grandmother was added to her resume beginning in 1996 with the birth of Annie and five more followed in quick succession.  She enthusiastically embraced her new role and shared her love of learning, the Jersey shore, and the theater with a new generation of Youngs.  Crossword puzzles and Sundays watching her beloved Eagles were just two of her many hobbies.  She maintained a deep faith in God throughout her life, prayed often to the Blessed Mother and recited the rosary on a regular basis.  Therese will be remembered as a gracious matriarch who loved and was loved deeply, a person who brought joy and laughter to all those she encountered in a life full of great memories.

         Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing Thursday, July 20, 2023, 9:30 - 10:45am at St. Philip Neri Church, 437 Ridge Pike, Lafayette Hill, Pa 19444 where her Funeral Mass will follow at 11am. Interment Westminster Cemetery, Bala Cynwyd, Pa 19004
