"William “Carl” Gonce passed away the morning of December 16 2021 , at the age of 83. He was surrounded by family and at piece . Carl worked primarily at Morten-Thiokol as a rocket technician on the Space Shuttle Booster program and later for Dupont’s Medical division as a blood analyzer development engineer where he retired in 1997. He was known as “Doctor” Gonce by his colleagues for his ability to develop innovative robotic solutions for the blood analyzers he helped design.
Outside of work he was known for his willingness to help and care for others, volunteer work, and organizing his high school reunions and other social events. In his free time Carl loved to spend time with family, tinker with and repair equipment of all sorts, work on cars, boats and tractors, follow space program developments, and most importantly converse with anyone willing to listen. He was never idle and was always involved with numerous projects during his life.
Carl was a very loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who will be deeply missed by his many friends and family. He is survived by his wife of 38 years Debbie Gonce; his daughter Brenda and three sons Kevin, Matthew, and Evan; and four grand-daughters Morgan, Hollie, Halley, and Danica and two younger sisters Patti and Barbara . Services will be held 10:00 AM Monday December 27th at Ruffenach Family Funeral Home in Oxford, PA
In lieu of flowers donations in Carl's memory can be made to the Lions Club of North East Maryland PO Box 47 North East, Maryland.
The family respectfully asks that masks be worn during the viewing."
