On Friday, January 1, 2021, Wendell B. Higgins, loving husband, father and poppy
passed away at the age of 77 at Ware Presbyterian Village, Oxford PA.

Wendell was born on July 25, 1943 in Portsmouth, NH to Harold and Mary
(Simmonds) Higgins. He attended Traip Academy High School, Kittery, ME and
University of Maine, Orono. On June 23, 1973, Wendell married Christine Foley of
Oxford, PA. Residing in Oxford, Wendell shared 47 years of marriage with Chris,
raised two daughters, Karen and Jill, and became the proud grandfather of five.
Employed at the Delaware City Oil Refinery (under many names) for 30 years,
Wendell worked as the Supervisor of Mechanical Maintenance and retired from Shell
Oil Co. A member of Oxford Presbyterian Church, Wendell served as a deacon and
elder. He was a member of Oxford Union Fire Company No.1 for many years and
Beaver Pines Hunting Club, Potter County, PA. Wendell was an athlete who loved
playing basketball and baseball for his school teams while growing up. He continued
to play on various softball teams in the community for many years. When he wasn’t
playing, Wendell was a proud Oxford Area High School sports fan, supporting his
daughters’ teams and all their classmates. Anyone that knew Wendell knew that he
may have left New England to settle and raise his family but he never left behind
his passion for his teams; the Bruins, Celtics, Patriots and especially The Red Sox.
Wendell most enjoyed spending time with his family. He was an avid golfer, loved
traveling the country and especially enjoyed many trips to Maine. Wendell was
known for his warm welcoming disposition, his gentle spirit, and the love he gave to
anyone that was honored to know him.

Wendell is survived by his loving wife, Christine F.; daughters, Karen Raser (Kris),
and Jill Hayes (Geoffrey); and grandchildren, Molly & Pierce Raser; and Paul, Dean,
& Nora Hayes.

Wendell bravely faced and battled Parkinson’s Disease for over 25 years. For that
reason, his family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in tribute to
Michael J. Fox Foundation. www.michaeljfox.org

With health and safety in mind, a celebration of Wendell’s life will be planned for
friends and family in the spring. (TBD) Private Interment Oxford Memorial
