Josephine George
1927 – 2021
Josephine George (nee Canci) age 94 of Drexel Hill died peacefully February 24, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. Josephine was predeceased by husband Frank George and is survived by her daughters Carmella (Richard) Pepino and Carole (Robert, deceased) Miele, grandchildren Richard, David, Jessica, Gabriella and seven great grandchildren. “Aunt Jo”, as she was affectionately known was beloved by her nieces and nephews.
Josephine worked for many years as a Nurse’s Aide at the Villa St. Joseph in Darby, Pennsylvania. She was the youngest child of Joseph and Anna (nee DeFelice) Canci’s eight children. To Josephine, family was everything. When she wasn’t cooking or baking pizzelles for them she would often be found crocheting. She became known for her many baby blankets. She had a special place in her heart for her many babies and Nana would tenderly hold them in a loving embrace every chance she got. Birthdays were always special for Josephine. You could always count on receiving a card from Aunt Jo.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Viewing 9-10A.M. on Wednesday, March 3, 2021, at the Ruffenach Funeral Home, 4900 Township Line Road, Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania 19026. Her Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30A.M. at St. Andrew the Apostle Church, 3500 School Lane, Drexel Hill. Interment will be private for the immediate family at Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery.
